In a recent poll taken by an obvious tree-hugging liberal spinning organization “The Wall Street Journal,” Americans “like” Obama over Romney by a wide margin (almost 2-1). While political analysts often scoff at this kind of poll, Americans vote their feelings and attitudes as much as they do issues. It’s how John F. Kennedy narrowly won the election in 1960 against Richard Nixon. These numbers will surely be problematic for Mitt Romney who many have called “out of touch” with every day Americans (Not my liberal spin, but the former Republican Speaker of the House.)
As the election heats up, this likability factor will in my opinion determine the election in November. Why? Because Romney isn’t bringing anything new to the Republican party. In fact, a few days ago a senior republican strategist indicated Romney’s plan is essentially the same as George W. Bush’s plan. Oh Really? And where did we end up with that? Oh I forgot, the GOP is trying to pin the worst economic collapse since the Great Depression on Obama.
As for the defining issue of our time “Universal Health Care,” both Obama AND Romney support it, in fact I’m sure the Democratic National Committee chairman will be running sound bite after sound bite from Romney’s speeches a few years back where he was “bragging” about his plan. It’s almost laughably sad to now watch the republican spinners try to disassociate themselves and Romney from Romney’s “own” creation in Massachusetts.
Americans don’t like elitists going back to good ole King George. Romney may be a good father, but he was “born with a silver spoon in hand, and lord don’t they help themselves!” People complain that Obama never held a real job, didn’t even sell lemonade (in the ghetto you sell Pabst anyway) however, this shouldn’t be used against him, Romney never sold lemonade either, his dad likely owned Minutemade!
